Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) Symptoms, Preventions, and Treatments

Saturday, July 18, 2015

When Escherichia coli or E. coli (a type of bacteria that's present in our intestines/ digestive tract) gets into your urethra and goes up to your bladder can cause you Urinary Tract Infection or UTI. Women are mostly prone to this disease than men do.

Any of the following symptoms must be taken seriously to cure, as these can lead your health to risk if not treated immediately:
  • Painful feeling when urinating (Dysuria)
  • Foul odor, bloody, and/or cloudy urine
  • Sensation of urgent urination
  • Strain in the lower part of abdomen
  • Fever and chilling
Above-mentioned signs can be prevented and avoided when you change these habits that you usually do:
  • Avoiding to urinate
  • If soaking in a bubbly tub is your routine for relaxation, it is not advisable to do it for a long period as this can cause urethral irritation. Use only mild soap or with pH Balanced.
  • Do not wipe through the wrong direction. Always do the "front-to-back" way to steer clear the harmful E.coli that stays in the anus.
  • Sexually active women are susceptible
If you suspect yourself having UTI, aside from antibiotic you can also try these home remedies to kick off the cure:
  • Drink plenty of water to cleanse your urinary system.
  • Charged up with Vit. C. This can help make your urine acidic that fights bacteria.
  • Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda into your drink to stop the burning sensation.
  • Even if you only urinate a small amount, make sure to flush it out. Emptying your bladder will wash the bacteria out.
  • Eat cucumbers. It has a high water substance that's best to have extra fluid and cleanse your urinary tract.
  • Go get a bottle filled with water and place it over your irritating bladder to at least minimize the pain.
Prompt treatment of UTI is important to prevent the infection from expanding into your kidneys; otherwise, the risk will become unbearable. Consulting a doctor is highly recommended as soon as you have the symptoms.
